Mr. Emmanuel Alphayo Makundi is a Senior Research Scientist specialising in Medical Anthropology and Policy Analysis currently working at Health Systems and Policy Analysis Section at Muhimbili Research Centre of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). He holds a degree in BA, Sociology, (1st Class) University of Dar es Salaam and Masters-MPhil, Health Sciences, University of Bergen Norway. Mr Makundi has been engaged in teaching in higher learning institutions in Tanzania as an instructor- Priority Setting Module. MSc: Health Policy and Management. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), and Assistant Lecturer and Course Co-ordinator, Health Systems Research Course, MD II & BSc II Nursing, Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU), Tanzania for over 7 years. Mr Makundi has extensive experience in publications and technical reports in health research over 24 years. He has initiated and engaged over 40 consultant activities, and has 29 publications in peer reviewed journals. The consultant activities involve Ministry of Health, Local Government Authorities, Consultant Health Facilities in Tanzania, UN Agencies including UNICEF, WHO, UNFPA and other agencies such as PEPFAR, EU and CDC. His key research areas include Health Systems, Knowledge Management and Translation in Health Research, Policy Analysis, Policy Brief Development and Policy Dialogue Engagement involving Policy and Decision Makers, Priority Setting in Health Care and in Health Research and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH).
